The innovative and courageous Charles and Ray Eames took the liberty of using fiberglass in furniture and in 1948 they first made their very famous Eames side chairs with wooden legs and fiberglass shell. The Eames side chair and Eames dining side chairs are comfortable yet elegant and easy in use. DSW (Dining Side Shell Wood) is a version of the Eames Plastic Side Chair with a wooden base.
Eames Plastic Side Chair is a contemporary version of the legendary Fiberglass Chair. In a “Low Cost Furniture Design” competition this chair was first designed. It is also the industrial made plastic chair. In 1993, the chair was discontinued as fiberglass cannot be recycled, but thanks to advances in technology and materials, the chair is now produced in robust and recyclable polypropylene.
